What API 570 costs and when you can sit it, with the application deadline for each window. Figures are from API's schedule and fees page, checked against API's own pages on 16 October 2026. Check the page again before you pay.
Short answer: US$875 for API members and US$1,125 for non-members, rising to US$890 and US$1,140 in 2027. The next window runs 29 January to 19 February 2027; apply by 26 November 2026.

The fee is for the exam seat. Codes such as API 570 and ASME B31.3, and preparation material, are separate costs.

Exam windows and deadlines

Good news if you already own the books: API's sheet for the February and June 2027 windows lists the same publications as 2026. Details in the 2027 codebook changes.
The exam format, in brief
- 170 questions, 140 scored and 30 unscored pretest items.
- 110 closed-book questions in 2 hours 45 minutes, a 45-minute lunch, then 60 open-book in 3 hours 45 minutes, with the listed codes on screen.
- 7.5 hours in all, at a Prometric test centre.
- The certificate is valid for 3 years.

Choosing a window
If you are starting from scratch, the February window leaves about three months, and the application has to go in within six weeks. June 2027 (apply by 1 April) is a more comfortable first target.
