Training for the work, not for an exam
These are technical training programmes. They are not certification preparation and there is no exam at the end of them — if you are working towards an API, AMPP or CSWIP credential, the certification guides are the place to start.
Which one do you need
Programme or certification?
EIM runs both, and they answer different questions. This is the distinction people most often get wrong, so it is worth thirty seconds.
An Emerging Skills Program
- Teaches a subject the industry needs now, whether or not a certifying body has caught up
- Built around the operational decision — what to monitor, what to report, when to escalate
- Study material, worked calculations and a question bank where one exists
- Ends with capability you can use on Monday
What it is not
- Not preparation for a certification exam
- No API, AMPP or CSWIP credential at the end
- No certifying body publishes a Body of Knowledge for it
- Not a substitute for a certification your employer requires

API 579-1 / ASME FFS-1 Fitness-For-Service
The run-repair-replace standard behind API 510, 570, 653 and 580 — Level 1 to Level 3 assessments, remaining life, and the calculations that produce them. Training, not certification preparation.
